Hello readers, It’s a very happy and proud feeling for us, to bring you the third-anniversary edition of Sports Champ. It was not an easy task to continue going when everything was shut down during the Corona Pandemic. but we had confidence in our readers and decided to keep pushing and yet delivering our best. And now it’s high time to open the wings and find new horizons.

At the recent World School Summit held in Bangkok, Thailand, on behalf of the magazine, I received this distinguished accolade from none other than the renowned film actress, Esha Deol. Organised by the esteemed Cluster of Achievers (COA), this event recognised individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of education. 
Standing on that stage, with the spotlight shining bright and the applause filling the room, I could not help but feel a profound sense of gratitude and accomplishment. This recognition means the world to me, as it acknowledges the years of hard work, dedication, and passion I have poured into my role as a sports educator. 
“Sports Champ is not just a publication it is a platform dedicated to promoting sports education and creating a sports roadmap for schools across India. From featuring the journeys of athletes who overcome obstacles to shining a spotlight on para-athletes, we strive to highlight the diversity and inclusivity of the sports world.

Celebrating India's Historic Victory 
The Indian women's badminton team has scripted history by clinching the Asian Team Championship title. Led by the stellar performances of Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and the surprising emergence of Anmol Kharab, the Indian team embarked on a journey marked by sheer brilliance and unwavering teamwork. From the gripping group stage victory against top-seeded China to the nerve-wracking showdown against Thailand, every match was a testament to the team's dedication and skill. The future of Indian badminton looks brighter than ever.
As we celebrate this historic triumph, let us also acknowledge the hard work and sacrifice of the entire team, coaching staff, and support personnel. The victory not only brings glory to India but also sets the stage for further success on the international stage, including the upcoming Olympic Games. This month’s magazine also celebrates the success of pugilist Amit Panghal, a 17-year-old shooter Isha Taksale and weightlifter Sairaj Pardeshi. Their remarkable stories will surely inspire the kids to carry forward the legacy.

The first-ever Khelo India Para Games echoed a saga of resilience and glory, marking a historic chapter in sports. Haryana’s outstanding performance, clinching an impressive tally of 105 medals, including 40 gold, signifies not just victory but a celebration of grit and unwavering resolve.

This monumental event went beyond mere competition; it embodied the spirit of inclusivity and unyielding determination. Para-athletes like Sheetal Devi, Yogesh Kathuniya, Bhavina Patel, and Nishad Kumar, shining from their triumphs in the Asian Para Games, stood as beacons of excellence. Emerging talents shattered barriers, triumphing over physical constraints to seize podium honours.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's words, 'Kheloge toh khiloge,' echoed profoundly as, 1450 para-athletes from 32 states graced this prestigious event, competing across seven disciplines. The Khelo India Para Games 2023 etched moments of unparalleled human strength, setting new benchmarks, and challenging stereotypes.

Sports Champ India's 1st ever sports education magazine

We are immensely happy to announce our first-ever national-level sports awards for schools, teachers and students. It was on our minds right from the beginning when the Sportschamp magazine was launched. Being the first sports education magazine, it was our aim to be a connecting bridge between sports and education, and we wanted to appreciate the efforts the school principals, heads of the departments, and PE teachers were taking to promote sports at the grassroots level.

Focus more on individual sports
Through the Sports Champ platform, we get connected to several schools across India. As a part of sports education, we organise many seminars, workshops and counselling sessions for principals, teachers, parents and students. It was very surprising to know that most of the schools were unaware of what they are exactly required to bring a sports culture. The majority of them had infrastructure and facilities and coaching for team sports like football and basketball. The kids irrespective of their inclinations, physic and passion were forced to opt for the limited options the school provide.

The Sports Champ magazine has always promoted and encouraged girls’ participation in sports. Even though the situation has changed a lot in the last few decades, there is much more to improve. The parents still hesitate to send their daughters to sports, especially some male-dominated sports like football. But the hosting of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Goa will change the scenario. As Bhaichung Bhutia, former captain of the Indian football team has rightly said, this tournament can create a lot of icons and awareness for girls and would encourage a lot of parents to allow their daughters to play football.

SPORTS CHAMP AUGUST 2022 EDITION IS FILLED WITH OUR INDIAN HEROES LIFE JOURNEY - ACHIEVEMENTS AND ACCOLADES.

It is believed that chess originated in India, and in the last few decades, chess in India saw a qualitative and quantitative rise. As of now, we have 74 Grandmasters (GM), 125 International Masters (IM), 18 Woman Grandmasters (WGM) and 42 Woman International Masters. We are among the top 10 in the world and our players have won joint gold in the 2020 Chess Olympiad and a bronze next year. Now, for the first time, India has got an opportunity to host the Chess Olympiad. While Chennai is gearing up for the mega event, starting from July 28, the Indian legend GM Viswanathan Anand is also likely to become the Depute President of FIDE, the International Chess Federation. With these steps, we can surely say that we are marching towards becoming a ‘Chess Super Power’.

Let’s promote Indian Sports
Wrestling is the traditional sport of India and though the Indian wrestlers are doing a good job at the international level, the more popular version of the sport in India is mud wrestling or akhara. Especially in the states like Maharashtra, this traditional version attracts thousands of spectators.  

New content, new series
The Sports Champ group has always provided all-around sports education to its readers. Whether it’s a print magazine or our online talk show, now and then we have come up with new fresh content. We have now introduced a new series on international sports brands. The first guest is Dan Tigau, the founder, and CEO of Revolution 3.0 from Romania, who spoke about various aspects of table tennis.

Kudos to para-athletes

First, congratulations to all Padma Awardees of 2022. It’s a positive sign that four Paralympic medallists including multiple medallist javelin thrower, Devendra Jhajharia, Tokyo Paralympics double medallist shooter Avani Lekhara, gold medallist javelin thrower Sumit Antil and gold-winning para-shuttler Pramod Bhagat are among the nine sportspersons who are conferred with the Padma awards. Through our magazine, we have always promoted the para-athletes and it can be gauged from the fact we have already covered all these athletes in our previous editions.

Dear readers, wish you a happy and prosperous new year. Like every year, Sports champ is bringing you a new layout and amazing content and hoping you will like our thought, which we tried our best.

The year 2021 is ending on a high note for Indian Sports. The athletes did a great show at Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. It started in April when Indian grapplers clinched 14 medals in the Senior Asian Wrestling Championship and ended with seven medals in the Asian Archery Championships. The shooters were also impressed by winning 43 medals in the ISSF Junior World Championship in October while wrestler Anshu Malik became the 1st Indian woman to win the World Championships silver medal.

The year 2021 has turned out to be special for the Indian sports community. In the Tokyo Olympics, the Indian athletes returned with gold, two silver, and four bronze medals. The para-athletes raised the bar higher and with 19 medals, including five gold, the Indian contingent signed off with 24th in the overall tally - the highest ever
