This Issue also showcases the most elite and awaited wedding event of the year. After having to reschedule several times, we were able to host Wedding Week 2022, our exclusive Wedding Expo on the 19th and 20th of February at the Galle Face Hotel. My team and I spent months planning on how to bring you a unique experience, while making sure our team, our clients and all those who joined in were safe from Covid-19. I’m overjoyed to share that our event was a huge success that made news around the world!

In these uncertain times, I whole-heartedly sympathize with you all who had to postpone or cancel your wedding plans altogether. I can understand how heartbreaking the decision must’ve been and frustrating it is to not know when you can see a possibilty either. The novel coronavirus pandemic has so far killed over 180,000 people and infected over 2.5 million people globally.  It shattered the Sri Lankan wedding industry completely, leaving all suppliers and vendors helpless. With the government and health offcials encouraging social distancing and restricting gatherings, weddings scheduled for the coming months have all become crises to manage, rather than reasons to celebrate.

It is with greatest joy I write this issue’s Editor’s Note My journey as the founder of Brides Of Sri Lanka and leading up to the 50th issue as editor, has definitely been an exhilarating one! Trials and tribulations were a many, but the joy of helping many brides and grooms plan the most memorable day of life has been more rewarding. Over the years, we have tirelessly worked hard to bring out the most inspiring content keeping in par with the global wedding trends yet not forgetting our Sri Lankan culture, traditions and values. We have set fashion trends for brides and grooms to follow with the help of our renowned local designers ensuring our brides and grooms will look their absolute best according to the season and time. And we will strive to publish each coming issue with greater visual appeal and inspirational content.
