Our adventure began the moment we landed at the impressive Istanbul New Airport, home to Turkish Airlines and gateway between Europe and Asia. Over four marvellous days we criss-crossed the magical city, running from one spectacular sight to the next, as we photographed Mikaela Martinez for our cover story, A Tale of Two Continents.

Bathed in a beautiful light and dressed in a spectrum of colour, Istanbul is a city that keeps on giving, overflowing with amazing places to discover. This confluence—of history, of faiths, of cultures—is home to the sublime Hagia Sophia, the magnificent Blue Mosque, the splendid Topkapi Palace, the spectacular Basilica Cistern, and the dazzling Grand Bazaar. Philippine Tatler Traveller goes to Hanoi for this issue's cover story as Philippine Airlines
launches its latest routes, opening pathways to more of Asia's cultural gems. With PAL's
new direct flight, the scenic Vietnamese capital is now only three hours away, making it
an easy option for a long weekend-getaway. What makes Hanoi so alluring is that
a visit to this city is like being transported to another world, suspended in time between
a French colonial past and a bustling Asian present.

We were billeted at the Sofitel Legend Metropole—considered the city's most
prestigious address—in the French Quarter, within walking distance to many must-see

immediately impressed by the seamless dichotomy between colonial-style buildings and
Oriental temples. Behind the doors of many of these finely-preserved heritage buildings
lie the most charming cafés serving up traditional pho, bahn mi, and the ubiquitous
Vietnamese drip-coffee.

Twenty five years ago, Amanpulo—the first ultra luxury island resort to open in the country—welcomed its first guests. We couldn't think of a better cover story destination for this issue on inspiring journeys than the pristine paradise on Pamalican Island in Palawan as it celebrates this milestone. When you go for a swim in Amanpulo's spectacular waters, it's not uncommon for endemic species like giant hawksbill sea turtles to swim serenely alongside you, undisturbed and completely at ease in their natural habitat.

Stephanie Zubiri-Crespi, herself an advocate for environmental preservation, was a perfect fit for cover girl—photographed for our pages against Amanpulo's world-renowned powder white beaches. Speaking of inspiring journeys, Philippine Tatler Traveller embarked on its very first river cruise with the award winning American company, AmaWaterways. We enjoyed excellent, personalised service and wonderful dining on-board the AmaSonata as we sailed down the legendary Danube. Along the way, it was wonderful to explore impressive sites like the scenic Wachau Valley, magnificent Melk Abbey, and the Old Town of Regensberg; to pair fine Austrian Rieslings and apricots; and even to try the most delicious sausages from Germany's oldest sausage makers (600 years old) by the river banks. Philippine Tatler Traveller trains its lenses on London for this year's annual Art of Luxury Travel issue.  On our cover are bright young sisters Kerry and Kylie Tinga, who both recently completed uni in the British capital.

For this issue, we also travelled across the Indian Ocean to the spectacular W Maldives. On the last day of an all-too-brief visit, I had the most blissful massage at their Away Spa followed by sunset champagne cocktails at W Maldives' Private Island, Gaathafushi. We had the little island, with its powdery sand, all to ourselves that afternoon—apart from a school of baby mantas that swam right by us.
