From the awe-inspiring great white to the adorable dogfish sharks, Scuba Diver Ocean Planet presents a collection of images from some of the most talented underwater photographers across the globe. These individuals have united with the same vision – to see our sharks saved. Featuring the smallest, fiercest, friendliest, and rarest sharks, let these images attest to the true nature of sharks in this Collector's Edition.

In this annual photo journal, we will feature obvious behaviours in stunning images, but also some curious ones that warrant more observation and study. We know so much more about sterile, barren outer space than our oceans that are teeming with life and require more of our understanding and care. You will also see that some images are presented in a series because some behaviours cannot be appreciated in a single shot. As always, I’m forever grateful to the photographers who always offer their precious images whenever I ask.

ADEX's efforts have centred on educating new divers to become role models, appointing ambassadors to inspire change, and inviting industry leaders to spotlight issues like
endangered marine species, climate change, and marine plastic pollution. The ultimate goal is to build a forward-thinking, action-oriented community dedicated to sustainability. In this issue, the highlight is on the North Pacific offerings.

The sea ice is melting, the permafrost is thawing, and habitats are shrinking for the animals that thrive in the cold. The scariest prediction scientists are making is the Arctic could be ice-free in the summer by 2040. That's in our lifetime, people. Let that sink in....
The rest of us are left with hope. And there is a growing community that has undertaken the work to educate, influence change, and be a force for the progress of humanity....

There’s something fascinating about seeing the underwater world up close, in all its glorious detail. Looking at images that bring out the colours, texture and detail of an animal in a single frame is in itself very compelling.

As far as legends go, this issue was both difficult and easy to put together. The list was very long, because there were so many we wanted to acknowledge and honour. This issue is an homage to my sister, the visionaries who revolutionised and shaped the industry, and the nameless warriors who work tirelessly and relentlessly, despite the absence of accolades, and who have taken giant strides to learn more, do more, and be more dedicated in protecting our oceans, our life source.

Commemorate 21 different experiences as we celebrate the colourful history of the magazine – from Scuba Diver Australia to Scuba DiverAustralAsia to Scuba Diver Ocean Planet. As we welcome adulthood, this issue also explores 21 fun and adventurous encounters with our featured divers.

In this annual photography edition, Scuba Diver Ocean Planet Magazine will be dedicated to the amazing world of freediving and the finalists and winners of the monthly submissions from the Ocean Gallery Vision 20/22. Seek out the art of freediving with a deeper appreciation for its freediving photography coupled with the timeline, history, and record holder. This issue will be the Scuba Diver Diveaholic edition where we will put together a magazine that provides a comprehensive listing of everything you need to know about diving. From speaker portfolios to top products, gears and equipment on sale, this Diveaholic Magazine will be the ultimate diver’s bible on anything and everything diving.

I met Ernie at the DEMA Show in Las Vegas in 2012. We talked about our many shared interests: art, the ocean, conservation. He has inspired me since that day, with his passion, his insights and his incomparable art. Like so many others who had the opportunity to hear him speak, I was drawn to this wise, warmhearted gentleman, and I was extremely touched by how he gave back to the ocean.
He told me that everyone is connected to the ocean, and he was very keen to be a part of what we do in Asia. He enthusiastically agreed to be a guest of honour at
ADEX 2013, as well as accepting an appointment to the advisory board of the Historical Diving Society (Asia). He would come back for our event in Singapore for
many years. In 2018, ADEX was dedicated to sharks, and he graciously allowed us to use one of his most iconic shark images (which you’ll find on the cover and in the pages of this magazine). That same year, the last year he came to the show, we honoured Ernie as an ADEX Ambassador (Emeritus). While he had no intention to teach, Ernie was my mentor. His passion and his love for the ocean have been my inspiration, guiding me in my way of thinking until today. He will always remain close to my heart, and he will continue to inspire me as he has inspired so many underwater photographers from around the world. Thus, this edition is our collective tribute to Ernie, our celebration of his life and work, communicated
through the dedications and images of underwater photographers who have been touched by this great man. Thank you Ernie. We will miss you.
