This issue of LDaily magazine is the final one of the year
2020. To describe this period as critical, exceptional, or
catastrophic for business would be an understatement.
The COVID-19 pandemic suddenly, drastically, and globally
reshaped the usual state of business affairs and quickly
threw it into a new coordinate system. Not everyone found
their place, but many managed not only to survive but also
to gain momentum. This is evidenced by a survey conducted
by LDaily among business leaders.
The results of the survey also show that the crisis seriously
harmed only one in ten respondents, meanwhile one in
twenty discovered new opportunities. Half of those surveyed
did not change their investment plans, although
many had to say goodbye not only to offices but also to
expansion plans, not to mention business trips and visits.
As for the positive aspects of the activities, switching to
remote mode mainly led to the growth of trust in subordinates
and between employees in teams.
As for the coming 2021 year, most expect an improvement

Predicting scenarios for the coronavirus crisis is hard, but
it is already clear that there will be significant losses until
the COVID-19 vaccine is created and we get free access to
it. The pandemic has almost completely suspended economic
activity throughout the world, and material damage
is increasing every day.
As for businesses in Ukraine, they faced unprecedented
challenges and acted differently during the quarantine crisis
in the first half of 2020. Those that have remained afloat
after experiencing various losses are now recovering.

COVID-19
affects the entire economic system of the world. The pandemic
forces people to abandon the well-established
business processes and suspend business activities. This
causes as much harm as the disease itself. However, if developed
countries have strong financial levers to help businesses,
Ukraine, like most Eastern European countries,
does not have such a financial reserve. This is a serious
challenge for Ukrainian businesses.
The experience of leading players in the domestic and
world economic markets is extremely important now. It
is about those who are successfully getting out of a difficult
socio-economic situation thanks to the optimal and
effective organization of all business processes and social
activities.
The experience of these entrepreneurs, state and public

The end of 2019 was marked by milestone events aimed

clean energy (according to the Climatescope 2019 Report,
there was a rapid leap by 55 positions in the ranking);
signing the law on stimulation of investment activity by the
President of Ukraine; liberalization of currency legislation...

China is one of the most progressive countries in the world.
It has made significant progress in the hi-tech field. DJI,
ZTE, OnePlus, Tencent, Lenovo, Huawei are time-tested
brands known for their quality and reliability.
The country’s economy speedily ranked second in the
world (after the US). Some analysts even rank it first, calling
China’s rapid economic and technological advancement a
“Chinese miracle.”
Ukraine and the PRC have significant prospects for
cooperation, so we dedicate this LDaily issue to its
successes and challenges, achievements and difficulties.

Sweden is one of the countries which Ukraine could
emulate in most directions. According to Swedes, there
is no better country for doing business than theirs.
Our countries are similar by size and resources yet
significantly different in economic development and
terms of doing business. Sweden boasts a diversified
and competitive economy — it takes the 9th place in the
world in development. Among all European countries, the
national debt of Sweden is one of the lowest, inflation is
little, and the banking system is exceptionally strong.
The country is also highly ranked as the most convenient
trading partner. This is not surprising — openness and
liberal approach to international trade are the hallmarks of
the national economy. For the wellness of a comparably
small country with a large economy, an emphasis on
export is essentially important. Swedish enterprises sell
abroad a wide range of goods and the country keeps a
positive trading surplus from year to year.
Hence, the guests of this issue LDaily tell about Ukrainian
realities from the businesspersons’ points of view of one
of the leading world economies. Together with usual
risks here, they traditionally note the high potential of
the Ukrainian market, emphasizing a certain decrease

In 2019, the World Economic Forum in Davos recognized
the German economy the most innovative in the world.
Additionally, the German economy is the most developed
among the EU countries. Over the past 50 years, its GDP
has grown from $ 215 billion to fantastic $ 3.4 trillion.
Today, new investors from Germany are interested in
Ukraine due to low production costs and well-trained
staff. Some German companies consider Ukraine a region
for production development. Other German companies
are planning to place their service centers in Ukraine.
Leaders of German companies in Ukraine confess they
have learned a lot in Ukraine during recent years. At the
same time, they have own experience which could be
shared with their Ukrainian counterparts. For example,
we make decisions much faster, even if there is no
complete information, we are better prepared for risks,
we can quickly concentrate, create short decisionmaking
chains, and we are simply more active in general.
Why is Ukrainian business in Germany so poorly
represented today? After all, Germany is a perfect
“entry point” to the European Union thanks to its central
location in Europe and a high purchasing power. Those
who succeed in the German market will open the whole
EU market.
So, do not miss an invitation from the German-Ukrainian
Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Ukraine) and
its Ukrainian Export Helpdesk. Nowadays, in conditions
of Ukraine’s active integration with the European
community, it is extremely important for German and
Ukrainian entrepreneurs to learn more about each
other and be able to meet personally. Ukraine is an
underestimated asset. The market with more than
40 million people can’t be unattractive.


The 2018 year was not easy for business. Nevertheless,
we can notice positive moments at its end.
Almost all the characters of this issue have noted the
insignificant progress, as well as the irreversibility
of reforms in Ukraine. Therefore, rich in ideas and
resources professionals will hardly miss these favorable
opportunities.
The majority also notices the importance and necessity
