The image of the dream family has been fading. A husband, wife, 2.5 kids,
and a dog is no longer blindly accepted as the only familial aspiration. Sure,
there are many who still believe that is the only way and people whose journeys
simply have taken them to what has been the norm, and that is lovely. However,
our society is beginning to recognize and visualize family differently.

Just Women Spring 2014 Bible Study ~ Women of the Bible: Seeking Justice is written by Disciples women Biblical scholars. This multi-session Bible Study is issued in April of every year. The lessons are suitable for individual or small group study. Just Women is endorsed by Disciples Women’s Ministries.

2014 marks the first year that the Bible study will be written by Disciples women. The writers and their lesson are:

Rev. Dr. Sharon Watkins, General Minister and President CC (DOC) – introduction;
Rev. Dr. Lisa W. Davison, Professor of Hebrew Bible at Phillips Theological Seminary – Ruth & Naomi / Bathsheba;
Rev. Dr. Irie Session, pastor/spiritual director for New Friends, New Life – Jephthah’s daughter / Tamar;
Rev. Dr. Nohemi Pagan, missionary and writer – Esther & Vashti / Sarah & Hagar;
Rev. Sandhya Jha, founder of Oakland Peace Center – Rachel & Leah / Hannah & Elizabeth; and
Rev. Kathy McDowell, minister and freelance writer - lesson guide
