This editors letter brings me joy to write. As I look back over the 2019 Kentucky Derby and the plethora of events I smile. CKW Magazine has expanded and gained recognition for its work and growth. The goal has always been to give voice and image to those who would otherwise go unnoticed.

 This Derby experience was no exception to that rule. As a whole. The team at CKW Magazine traveled from event to event, chatted with people from all over the world and, gained new partners in media. This issue is about the power and impact of visual imagery. Many of our articles are presented in a visual format so that our readers can feel as if they were there. I want everyone to experience the upside of the Kentucky Derby and realize that while we may not be where we want to be, we have in fact come a long way baby!

This issue is one that comes from my heart. As I approach my 45th year of life I realized that even the rough moments are ones I am grateful for. Often society tries to steer our mindset into one of ingratitude when we are experiencing life challenges. So, to see someone down and feeling out during trouble looks and feels normal for many.

I challenge you all to take a different approach to life. When it gets difficult look for the positive and focus on the great moments of it while, learning from the trying times. Try to take the power away from the negative moments and life challenges as often as possible. Instead, sow your power into the positive.

Welcome to another edition of CKW Magazine. This issue is about showcasing individuals and the power to create change. Our cover images were so fun to create. Many people from all walks of life came together to show the power of unity.

I have entitled this issue “We Are Power!” 

As we all can attest to the world changes daily, and we are all a part of the global community and at some point,  we must accept our part of the accountability that comes with that. 

No. we cannot instantly change the world. However, we each possess the power to impart goodwill towards one another and that is what creates positive change in our society. We can create positive changes in our community by volunteering, or by using any of our talents to impact others and to set a good example. There will always be challenges, yet we can rise to those challenges and overcome the obstacles we face together as a community of people who are willing to reinvest in each other with a smile, or a kind word to recharge the spirit.

Welcome to the three-year anniversary issue of CKW-The Chea K. Woolfolk Magazine. April 1st, 2019 marks the three-year anniversary of our official launch We have come a long way and are excited about what is to come. This issue discusses game changers around the globe, a glimpse in The Kentucky Derby 2019, Fashion and so much more.
In this month’s issue we wanted to showcase how simply changing accessories and adding pops of color can change the whole vibe of one signature piece. Be sure to check out the fashion section for that article. 
Easter is fast approaching, and we have included some wonderful tips for entertaining and recipes.
