Every year, the LMSA National Board makes it a goal to further the success of all medical
students by providing a Residency Guide at our annual National Conference. We are proud to
continue in this tradition and present the 2011 Residency Guide. This Residency Guide is intended to provide you with an outline on how to better attain personal goals during the transition from medical student to physician, using personal testimonials as well as time proven advice from those among us who have cleared these hurdles in the past. Our mission with this Guide is to assist budding medical students overcome the problems inherent
in the transition to residency as well as those added challenges of being Latino in the USA. We hope
that his packet serves you well, and that you gain knowledge and experience from the different
manifestations of our desire to help our people.

On behalf of the 2014 Latino Medical Student Association and the Student National Medical Association Executive Boards, we would like to introduce to you the LMSA/SNMA, “Residency Guide.” Its purpose is to provide information and resources to approach the residency application process.
The guide has the following main components: tips from a current fourth year, information on choosing a specialty, advice on how to apply including information about the interview and the match, osteopathic information and lastly, words and advice from numerous LMSA/ SNMA alumni residents.
