TO HELL AND BACK: For Kingsley and crew, their Riding High on Sky journey to Die Hel from the top of the Swartberg Pass certainly didn’t disappoint; the steep twists and turns of the five mountain passes that take you down to one of the most remote valleys in South Africa make it a must for any adventurer.

RIDING HIGH ON SKY: For Kingsley and crew, there was no better place to kick off the year and a bright new decade than from Lesotho’s 3 262m Tlaeeng summit, said to be the highest drivable pass in southern Africa.

BRINGING THE ‘GIRLS’ BACK: For Kingsley and crew, the expedition is not complete until the Landies are home. CONFESSIONS OF A TANK GIRL: Meet the first lady of motorcycles, the saviour of endangered animals and all-round nice person, Skinny van Schalkwyk. She may not be a household name but those who have followed her exploits know she knows how to have a good time on a motorcycle.

LOCAL IS LEKKER: On the recent Voetspore in South Africa journey, apart from the three Land Cruisers for the team and a Hilux for the editing team, we also had a RAV4 for guests and journalists who joined us from time to time on the 12 500 journey around South Africa. BRIDGING THE GAP: We’re on a crazy East to West journey that started at the Mouth of the Zambezi River on the Mozambican coast and it’s taken us across the African continent to the Republic of the Congo. Our destination is the mouth of the mighty Congo River where it gushes out into the Atlantic Ocean.

But it only gets a two-litre petrol boxer engine, coupled to Subaru’s continuously variable transmission. We took the all-new Forester on a 3 500km road trip.
