Ours pets have been with us over a course of many years. They have not only been our companions but many a time, have rescued us from perilous situations, been our aid when we needed help and have been friends to us.
For their qualities, they have been commemorated as fictional characters in many newspapers and cartoons. The role our pets play in our lives is now embedded in fiction, and we need only open some of our comic books to see how much they have influenced us. Some of them have been to space, been on famous logos and have Hollywood stars assigned to them.Though our pets cannot speak, we can feel their love, sense of loyalty, care and protection. We have compiled a list of popular cartoon characters and fictional heroes that you might have come across while reading the morning paper or changing channels on TV. Some of these characters are from very long ago, so you may have to brush up your memory while reading about them.
Snowy from Tintin:
Snowy (French: Milou) is a fictional character in The Adventures of Tintin, the comic series by Belgian cartoonist Hergé. Snowy is a white wire fox terrier who is Tintin’s companion, the series' protagonist. He was conceptualised after a similar dog that used to frequent the cafe that Herge visited. Snowy made his debut in the first installment of Tintin and the Land of the Soviets and was the only character to appear in all the series besides Tintin.
During the 1920s and 30s, there were many terriers that were owned as domestic pets. Terriers were known for their intelligence and character, two traits which are seen in Snowy throughout the series. When Tintin is not watching, Snowy finds his own little adventures and even lands himself in trouble a few times. The entire series portrays Snowy as Tintin's sidekick and companion on journeys. He is a dog that sniffs, tracks, chases and bites.
