Craving re-engagement with your favourite third place space? The high street coffee shop is a daily jump off point for many people. With so many eyes on it daily, why should the venue’s design be dulled by a cookie cutter approach?
Coffee Machine Bakery in Vladivostok is the flagship store of a successful chain and the first major street retail project of Miyao Design Studio. Located in the historic centre of the city, it was conceptualised by a team made up of lead architect Katerina Borodina, art director Sergei Piterskii and graphic designer Anton Tretyak.
As the bakery stands at the centre of the Coffee Machine store, so baking is integral to its design process.
A quick service area at its entrance is themed with accent materials of copper and steel, the colour of which is associated with the warmth of baking. To obtain the desired colour of the steel panels, they were processed with a specific chemical composition and baked in an oven.
