Hawking In A Black Hole!

The day great cosmologist and theoretical physicist Stephan Hawking died at the age of 76 was the day the math fans around the world observe – Pi Day. March 14 – 3/14 – the date of Hawking’s death is significant because 3.14 are the first three digits of pi, a bedrock of geometry.

 Pi is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, which even includes deals on pizzas and actual pies. Some people on the internet think Hawking couldn’t have calculated a better day to die. And on that very day 139 years ago another theoretical physicist was born – his name is Albert Einstein. The world knows the German-born scientist Einstein for developing the theory of relativity. But he didn’t win a Nobel for relativity as for many subsequent years the Nobel committee had the argument in his disfavor that the theory of relativity was not proven yet. Einstein ultimately got Nobel for discovery of the law of photoelectric effect.

Hawking, who long belied doctors’ prophecy about his lifespan, wasn’t an inventor in the vein of Thomas Alva Edison or Alexander Graham Bell, but his theories of black holes led to new ways of looking at the universe, time and space. After he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 1963 doctors gave him two years’ time to live in this world. But he outlived many of those doctors to proclaim – there are most likely more universes in whole scheme of the things rather than the one we thought of.
