The skies above Canberra were filled with smoke well before the annual horsepower party that is Summernats rolled into town this year, due to raging bushfires in the region.

You can see the hazy atmosphere in the photos throughout this article but despite the poor air quality, crowds still attended in the tens of thousands.

This year marked the 33rd Summernats and after Queensland’s, Rick Werner took out the Grand Champion gong in 2019 with his wild 1932 Ford pickup, we were keen to see who would show up with what to try to take out the top prize this year. Corey Aldridge of Show ’n’ Go Photography attended the ’nats for us again and supplied some great shots of the action from 2-5 January.
