What do you do when you have a dream... you chase it and that is exactly what Mark Vanbergen did. Mark booked his flight and set off to the States to hunt down his dream…a 1967 Chevrolet Coupe.
Whilst Mark had an amazing trip with many beers consumed there was no ’67 to be shipped back down under. He then went about looking in Australia when a mint ’67 Pontiac popped up for sale in Geelong. Mark headed down for a look and whilst it was a beautiful car and a $10k bargain, he just couldn’t do it, as it was no Chev.
Finally Mark got wind of one for sale in his own backyard, local Hot-rodder Graham Lloydy Roberts had a ’67 Chevy Coupe for sale, an Impala factory SS to boot with all the paint burnt off it from sitting in the Arizona sun, so a deal was made and Mark was finally the proud owner of his dream car, a factory 327 SS Impala.
Mark drove the car home and in the garage it was parked. He had a bigger project at the time as he was still building his house, so the SS was put on the back burner for a while. It was only when it was time to make a start that Mark realized rats had got into the dash and chewed through the ignition wires. Saying Mark might have been pannoyed would be an understatement. Working on the SS Impala now involved pushing it around the shed.
