Ian Walton has had about fifteen cars over the years, some hot rods, Model A roadsters, tourers, a ’39 Chev Sloper and ’55 Chevs. He built a few of these himself and bought others as going concerns, but all have been drivers with the family on board and often towing a camper. Ian’s family members have always been involved and remain so even today. The adult children love taking the cars out for a cruise, but grandson Henry is Ian’s new cruising mate. He loves the Claxton horn.
“I have been into hot rodding since the mid-’80s. I worked with the late Dennis Moreau in Canberra who converted me. Dennis came with me one Saturday to give me a lift with an early MG in parts I was interested in purchasing. On the way we stopped in to see a mate of his who just happened to have all the parts for a T bucket for sale. You guessed it, I came home with the bucket. So began many new friendships, cars and great runs through the next 30 plus years.
