For A Petrolhead, The Porsche World Road Show Is An On/off-road Adventure Not To Be Missed
Porsche has just launched its newgeneration sportscar, the 911 (992) Carrera and Carrera S models in India. A couple of minutes later, I find myself going nuts at the Buddh International Circuit, being completely blown away by the very same car as I try to keep up with the old-gen 911 GT3 up ahead. It was a really fast out-hot-in-lap sequence by my own driving standards. Once back in the pits, I hopped into the older generation 911 (991) and almost wet my pants trying to stay behind the 992.
Why? Because they may just be two generations of 911 that are difficult to tell apart when it comes to looks, but get behind the wheels of the two and put the hammer down – what happens next should definitely take you by surprise. The manner in which the 992 behaves out on a racetrack is insane. That is without any sort of exaggeration. The way it puts all of those 444 horses to use is simply mind-boggling. The way it happily wags its tail out (mostly unintentional in my case) and catches before it’s too late, is surreal. The accuracy at which it points its nose in relation to where you wanted it to go is mysterious. And then you jump into the 991 and you realise how “wild” the previousgeneration 911 was – that despite the fact that it was regarded as the best-handling sportscar of its era.
