Being allowed to organise a trial with decents ections on a fabulous estate is one of the benefits enjoyed by the Inverness and DistrictMotor Cycle Club, thanks to the far-sighted laird of the Alvie Estate.

It seems there are benefits to the ground by allowing trials bikes to ride over it now and again. Naturally the club work closely with the estate to ensure the course is plotted correctly and a testing trial is the result and a few years ago the idea of having a theme for each event was embraced.

This year the Italian marque SWM was celebrated and Bernie Schreiber – winner of the 1982 SSDT on an SWM – was invited to be guest of honour. It was hoped Frenchman Gilles Burgat, also an SSDT winner on an SWM, would be joining Bernie, but an incident in the 2019 SSDT prevented Gilles from attending.

The Highland Classic Two Day has gained an excellent reputation for being a friendly event, this is something the club has worked hard to maintain and their efforts are rewarded by the rapidity of the entry filling up each year.

The club follow a ‘first come first served’ policy for entries which seems the fairest way of doing things.

The Alvie Estate welcomes us trials riders every June, sometimes the weather is fine, sometimes it’s not, this year despite the forecast the weather played fair and the trial was enjoyed by all riders… see you next June for the Edition Fantic.
