Fortune Favours The Brave
Japanese Performance|November 2017

It takes a lot of balls to chop up an appreciating modern classic like an NSX. Luckily, Los Angeles-based Honda fan Leon casino had the Cohones to gamble and came away with the jackpot.

Fortune Favours The Brave

A spin of the wheel or the turn of a card – sometimes that’s all it comes down to. If you’ve gone all in and you’re riding the wave of fortune, that instant can mean the difference between ecstasy and despair. Only a select few will be brave enough to follow their heart and make that bet, while others will simply cash in their chips and settle for not knowing what could’ve been.

But it’s not just at the roulette wheel or black jack table that lifechanging decisions are made. Whether we realise it or not, we make them every day. Each choice we make has an opposing option, one that could radically alter our lives for the better or possibly the worse. Most of these choices we make without even thinking, while others require greater contemplation to assess the risk of our actions and whether they are worth taking to achieve the potential outcome. Unfortunately, just like that high stakes roll of the dice, often the greatest achievements are laden with the greatest risk, and those with the will to pursue their dreams will often have to put their faith in fate.

The aptly-named Leon Casino is one such individual who is not afraid to take that gamble, and has thrown caution to the wind with his achingly awesome Honda NSX. It defies convention and the beliefs of the purists. It also risks his financial investment in what is a rapidly appreciating modern classic. But for Leon, there was no other choice than to go for broke and build the NSX he had always dreamed of, no matter what the cost.

‘I’ve always had a thing for Hondas,’ laughs Leon when we meet him and his gleaming gloss black NSX in the winding canyon roads on the outskirts of his home town of Los Angeles. ‘And I’ve been tuning and modifying them in my own way since as far back as the mid eighties.’
