Suspension is one of the most important modifications when building a track car, so why did I make such a mess of it the first time around?
I'm going to hold my hands up right now and admit that I've made a few mistakes in the past. Not just that, but when it came to the last set of coilovers I bought for the MX-5, it could've been really bloody dangerous too. For some reason, though, we all seem to make some pretty silly decisions when it comes to spending our hard earned cash on car components, but inevitably, these are the little pieces of our automotive based jigsaw puzzle that are going to liven up our driving experience and, more importantly, keep us safe. Yep, I was sucked in by a bargain price that seemed far too good to be true and, as you can imagine, that’s exactly what it was. The cheap coilovers that flood the market these days can be had for as little as a couple of tickets to watch Foo Fighters, but after trying to keep my bouncy MX-5 in a straight line after fitting a set of said coilovers, I wish I'd gone to see the Seattle-based rockers instead and saved my pennies...and my pants.
