It&rsquo;s 6 o&rsquo;clock in the morning and there&rsquo;s utter silence in the vicinity of Mulshi lake in Pune. It is the darkest hour before dawn as the sun is still hidden behind the Sahyadri mountains. The silence is suddenly shattered with the start-up of a 2000cc S&amp;S V-twin motor, followed by its deep rumble that slowly begins to iron out as the engine warms up. The 2000cc engine I am referring to belongs to a different class of motorcycles that are not built on a production line but instead on hoist tables involving several hours of wrenching put together for a personalized&nbsp;machine like the one you see in the images. Avantura Choppers is a new company that manufactures proper American-style chopper bikes on Indian soil. With that said, let&rsquo;s find whether these choppers are as good as they look in the images?Avantura has two crazy models on offer &mdash; the Pravega and the Rudra. While the Pravega keeps the old school chopper look, the Rudra follows a modern, sleek and clean chopper design. As I got to ride the Rudra for a brief period, we will stick to the Pravega for now. The Pravega features a tribal design which is one of the five themes offered by the company with each available in two colour options. Its sheer presence and the ridiculous amount of chrome will ensure that you are noticed anywhere you go. It sports a 21-inch wheel at the front, 18-inch one at the back, weighs 347 kg and is 2627 mm in length from rubber to rubber. While all these figures sound intimidating, swing a leg over the 574 mm seat, lift the bike off the stand and all those numbers become non-existent.On the move, after getting familiar with its long steering rake and weight, the Pravega is surprisingly comfortable to ride. The lean-back handlebars and the forward-set footpegs are set to a comfortable position. Although Avantura does offer two more handlebar designs and three-setting for the footpegs on both bikes for a more personalised and comfortable riding posture.Do not expect any corner carving action, but the bike does offer a fair amount of lean on smooth, sweeping turns. Also, the 150 mm ground clearance helps to prevent the belly from scraping (something that you really don&rsquo;t want on such an expensive bike) and it also clears most of the poorly designed speed breakers. The suspension setup is fairly on the stiffer side with only limited amount of travel available. This is necessary considering the long front, which would otherwise dip on braking, thereby washing out the front. Talking about brakes, the company has tied up with Beringer from Germany for the 6-pot calipers at both ends. Given the characteristics of the bike, it is better to consider slowing down earlier as the brakes feel wooden and are enough to progressively stop the motorcycles.<img src="http://magarticles.magzter.com/articles/1132/256306/5a30dfdaf20dc/1513152456_loc.jpg"" owidth=1649 oheight=1061" style="height:322px; width:500px" />The engine, on the other hand, is a very potent powerhouse. Built by S&amp;S Cycle of the US of A, there is so much torque that every time you twist the throttle, you need to hold on tight. And as you are doing that, the exhaust note from the aftermarket pipes is deafening. That said, it&rsquo;s also enjoyable as it leaves a smirk on the face every time you feed the throttle.For the time spent riding the Pravega, the whole essence of riding a chopper motorcycle starts to seep in. The idea of a chopper I feel is not to reach the destination fast but instead to enjoy the journey and reach in style. The guys at Avantura Chopper have put in a lot of effort to offer something that is exquisite and unconventional. Yes, there are a few niggles with the motorcycles but that is something which Avantura promises to have covered with the production models.That said, Avantura Choppers have priced the Pravega at ` 21.4 lakh and the Rudra at ` 23.9 lakh (both ex-showroom, Mumbai) which is not exactly cheap but falls in the same category of big cruiser motorcycles. In conclusion, the choppers from Avantura are for those who have graduated from owning big cruiser motorcycles like Indians, Harley-Davidsons, Triumphs and the like, and now look forward to experience a more personalised way of riding motorcycles the chopper way.&nbsp;
