<p>There&rsquo;s nothing like a good story. Especially one that entails coming back to life. Elvis Presley may not have accomplished that himself, but after almost half a century, his BMW 507 has managed just that.To begin with, only 254 examples of the 507 were made between 1955 and 1959, which already makes this car a rarity. This particular one, with chassis number 70079, was raced by driver Hans Stuck, driven by him to various motor shows across Europe, won an automotive beauty competition in Wiesbaden, Germany, and even featured in a movie called Hula-Hopp, Conny. And used as a test car for the press which we can attest is the worst treatment a machine can get.</p><p>Presley, drafted into the US Army and posted in Germany in 1958, happened to test drive this very car and bought it. Being driven by a famous rock &lsquo;n&rsquo; roll star meant that the white 507 used to be peppered with messages written in red lipstick by his female fan following. To this, Presley responded by having the car painted red. When he moved back to the USA in 1960, he brought the car with him and traded it in at a Chevrolet dealership. From there, it changed a few hands (a pair of which had a bigger Chevrolet motor installed to go racing. Oh, the travesty!) until found in California with a gentleman named Jack Castor. He sold it to BMW Group Classic on the condition that it&rsquo;d be restored to its original glory, something he never had the chance to do. And so, after two years of painstaking labour, this 507 fired its motor up at the Concours d&rsquo;Elegance at Pebble Beach in August 2016. Fitting tribute to the man who once said, &lsquo;Ambition is a dream with a V8 engine.&rsquo; And this one just came back to life.</p>
