Back in the ‘90s, I, as a 10-year old dork, was intrigued by how manufacturers could share platforms among their cars to save on cost. My only concern then was that it would have made all cars look identical. Thankfully, such is not the case here. So when the GLA was launched, no one said that it was just an A-Class on stilts, or a downsized GLK, for that matter. Now, after more than 3,500 units sold — sizeable number for a premium vehicle — the GLA distances itself from its lesser cousins, with an all-wheeldrive system and other bits to justify the slightly more premium positioning. Welcome the GLA 220 d 4MATIC.
