As the rest of the world prepares for the first twin-cylinder Royal Enfield motorcycles to hit the market, Cayla Rivas, an 18-year old girl from Fresno, California has earned the record of hitting 241 kph on the new Royal Enfield twin. Rivas, who is no stranger to breaking speed records, already has 12 of them under her belt. While the official speed is yet to be confirmed by the FIM (Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme)&mdash; it is quite impressive for one to see a Royal Enfield go that fast. The record was attempted at the Bonneville Salt Flats where the blokes from Royal Enfield had carried out over 20 runs before settling for the 241 kph mark.The Royal Enfield implemented here doesn&rsquo;t have a lot in common with the production version of the Continental GT 650 we all know about. However, what it does have is the same 650cc twin mill that has been tweaked by Harris Performance, an entity that is also owned by Eicher Motors.While RE has been tight-lipped about the specs of the motorcycle, a few mods stand out just by looking at it. The motorcycle shares its platform with the tubular frame of the LockStock, RE&rsquo;s custom high-performance drag bike which has also been modified by Harris Performance.Other cycle parts include a low-slung fender to aid aerodynamics, Ohlins suspension setup, NOS (nitrous oxide) to get up to speed, upgraded throttle bodies and of course modifications to the engine to handle all that power. While all these are some serious mods, don&rsquo;t expect the production version to get any closer to it. But, the fact that&rsquo;s commendable is the capability of the motor to achieve such speeds itself is a great accomplishment.
