Almost three months of driving a fun, responsive petrol motor has kind of spoiled me. &#39;Well, you can&rsquo;t blame me for enjoying the GLC 300, can you?&#39; &#39;Who asked you to make such a lovely engine and put it in such a nice car?&#39; Multiple such messages were shamelessly sent to the lovely team at Mercedes Benz India, while I waited for the GLC 300 to come back. They weren&rsquo;t enough to get the GLC 300 back, but certainly enough to get a GLC as a replacement.The GLC 220d came to me and the first though I had: this is the first long termer I have had in three years that is white. Nothing against white cars, per se, but somehow Delhi has just too many white cars. But this one doesn&rsquo;t look bad at all. There is, to use a well repeated clich&eacute;, a sense of grace to it in white.No surprise, then, that the diesel is as different to drive as blue is to white. The 2.2-litre motor seems lethargic initially, but get that lag out of its way and it is almost fun. There is a low growl as you push it to the redline, which makes you push it even more and it does oblige. Stick to Sport+ and all is well.
