After an introduction to motor racing from his Dad, it was only a matter of time before Lee Etches got his hands dirty and started to get involved
Lee learned at his Dad’s elbow and after a few trips to Cadwell Park and Mallory Park he got interested in making things go faster. Amongst other things, Lee’s dad, Graham, owned a couple of Mk2 Ford Lotus Cortina’s and a Ford Focus ST that had an output of 350BHP. Lee’s first car was a Mk2 Ford Escort, that got modified with twin carbs and a rollcage, that made way for a ‘Holy Grail’ car, an Escort Mexico. Lee was very interested in rally cars and has owned a Peugeot 1.9 205 GTi, a Fiesta RS Turbo and a Lancia Integrale. He did step into the sports car world with a Porsche 911 C2, which used to carry the number plate that now adorns this stunning T5.
Lee was looking around for a vehicle to tow his Peugeot 306 racecar that used to compete in the British Touring Car Championship. After a trip to the Elsecar Mega Meet held at Doncaster racecourse, he felt the VW T5 ticked all his boxes and gave him the level of comfort and reliability he wanted.
