As a life-long cycling enthusiast, Scott Goodwin loves mountain biking and in particular longdistance adventure rides that involve heading off road and staying that way, sometimes for days on end. If you’re spending a lot of time in the saddle, then you either have to carry a tent and a whole load of paraphernalia to enjoy nights under canvas, or you need to plan a route that runs from hotel to hotel. For quite some time those were Scott’s only options and his cars were steadily getting bigger to accommodate all his gear. This culminated in a very nice Land Rover Discovery achieved, but with a lot more room in the rear, but it lacked that bit of luxury. After much deliberation he ordered a T6 Kombi which was immediately pressed into service as a daily driver. But, after a trip to the 2018 Busfest event, the standard format wasn’t going to be staying long. It was there that Scott met Katie and Johnny of Dirty that had plenty of room for bikes and was fully loaded with such niceties like air suspension and a full leather interior.
When a friend, Phil, bought himself a Transit van to use to transport his bikes around, Scott could see the potential, even though the van was empty. He could see that a similar driving position to the Landy’s could be Weekender Adventure Vans. Regular readers will remember that their van, Stealth Dave, graced the cover of issue 87. Scott and his wife, Debbie, enjoyed a great chat with the couple and came away with the idea that their van might be in for an overhaul.
