According to Pieter Smuts, the managing director of Husqvarna South Africa, small-scale farming is expected to play an increasingly important role in meeting the world’s ongoing food security. To support these farmers, technological advancements are constantly being made to deliver efficient, climate-resilient practices that add to their bottom line.
In a statement released by Husqvarna, Smuts says: “Small-scale farmers are increasingly turning to technology to increase yields, improve quality and reduce costs. This impacts every part of their production process, including the equipment they use.”
There are several reasons why he believes that small-scale farms are key to the future of food. These include the often-implied quality of food produced on a smaller scale, soil sustainability and innovation. Husqvarna is committed to helping South Africa’s small-scale farmers to improve their productivity and profitability by offering new, innovative products that align with their unique complexities and requirements.
