Grundfos launches solar pumps for homes

Grundfos India, a subsidiary of the Danish pump manufacturer Grundfos, has launched Smart Solarz, a solar pump for domestic use. The pump is targeted at semi-urban, urban and peri-urban population. The pump, which uses only solar energy, costs Rs 30,000 without solar panel and can pump 400 litres per hour on average. Currently, solar panel has to be bought separately, which will cost around Rs 15,000. The solar pump is ideal for use in houses and buildings up to two floors.

L&T launches floating dock for Navy

The first, indigenously built floating dock (FDN-2) to repair Indian Navy's ships was launched at Larsen & Toubro Shipyard in Kattupalli, north of Chennai. The Rs 468-crore FDN-2 will move to Andaman & Nicobar Islands to be used for assets not only of the Navy but also of other services. It can take up to 8,000-tonne ships with draught of up to 7 metres, including submarine. Floating docks can be installed either along a jetty, moored in calm waters and also moved to high seas, enabling round-theyear operation.

PVR invests Rs 1,000 cr in 400 screens

PVR Cinemas will invest close to Rs 1,000 crore to open over 400 screen across India by 2020. Cities where new screens are planned include Chennai, Pune, Mysuru, Kota, Hyderabad, Karnal, Jammu, Bengaluru and Delhi. Chennai will get another 15 screen in 18 months. The expansion will focus more on tier-II and -III cities. After the launch of a five-screen multiplex mall in Chennai last month, PVR Cinemas now has 584 screens across 50 cities in 127 properties in the country.
