BEL eyes 7 more Navy missiles deal
Bharat Electronics (BEL) is looking to ink a contract by end-2018 for seven more Long Range Surface-to-Air Missile (LRSAM) systems as a part of the Navy's P-17A stealth frigate programme. The defence electronics manufacturer has already signed a contract for the first four systems. The missile system is a joint development with Israel Aerospace Industries and Defence Research and Development Organisation. The missile system includes a Track and Guidance Radar (MFSTAR), multi-function surveillance, launchers and missiles with advanced radio frequency seekers.
OIL finds hydrocarbon block in Assam
Oil India (OIL) has reported a hydrocarbon discovery in the Baghjan Petroleum Mining Lease in the Upper Assam Basin. The discovery was made this May in the South Baghjan-2 well. Currently, the well is put on regular production. OIL has said that further appraisal of the discovery is planned which is likely to enhance oil and gas production. OIL had made 10 discoveries in its operational areas of Assam in 20162017. The discoveries have opened up an avenue for further exploration of already identified prospects.
