In an exclusive interview with Manufacturing Today, Naresh Tahiliani - Sr. Vice President and Business Head at Godrej Körber shares how automation and robotics technologies are transforming the supply chain and material handling process in India.
Here are the excerpts:
Growing capabilities in automation in factory floors is resulting in a boost in the demand for automated material handling equipment (MHE). What are the latest automated equipment to find acceptance in the industry of late?
With growing automation in the manufacturing space, plants have been able to increase their manufacturing capacity. This, in turn, means increased movement of raw material and finished goods on the shop floor. However, this is putting higher pressure on the material handling infrastructure – to move the product quickly away from the manufacturing floor as well as efficiently store and manage the higher volume produced in the factory attached warehouses till it gets shipped out.
This is where automated solutions come into play.
