Earlier this year, BMW Asia and Performance Motors Limited announced the latest incarnation of the BMW 7 Series. For 2020, the new series takes advantage of all the latest automotive technologies and comes loaded with an innovative drive system, offers advanced driver assistance, and is crammed with connectivity technology. BMW hopes the new 7 Series will stand out of the shadows and challenge the Mercedes Benz S-Class, the car’s main rival.
Originally introduced in 1977 as the carmaker’s flagship vehicle, the 7 Series has now undergone its biggest overhaul to date. The car has a bold new look with more luxurious fittings and fixtures, while interior plastics have been replaced with fine wood, supple leather and gleaming chrome. Even the paint got a makeover, with several new colors on offer. This car is big, and in Singapore it’s available only in the 5,268-mm extended wheelbase version.
On the outside, the car’s iconic kidney-shaped front grille is 40 percent larger than previous versions. The slimmer laser-powered headlights can project an incredible 500m, much farther than a person can actually see on the road. The front bumper has been redesigned, too. The whole car looks squarer and seems to take on a more aggressive stance. The 20-inch rims look well-proportioned to the larger body size and help set off the new body skirts. The rear taillights are thinner and joined by a thin LED bar. To finish the look, there are accents of chrome that help give this car an almost custom look. To make this luxury car even quieter, BMW has added thicker glass all round and placed more sound insulation inside the wheel wells to tamp down road noise.
