Raghuvendra Singh meets Aleya Sen, who made her debut as a director with Dil Juunglee
After a decade-long successful career in ad filmmaking, Aleya Sen has now made her foray into directing a movie with the Taapsee Pannu and Saqib Saleem starrer Dil Juunglee. Her shift from ads to films was not easy. Says she, “As a creative person, you want someone, who places faith in you, someone who believes your story is worth telling and putting money in. In my case, it was Jackky Bhagnani. Once he showed trust in me, things became smooth.”
Set in Delhi, Dil Juunglee, is a rom-com written by Aleya. She says the characters are drawn from her own life. However, the story is fictional. “When I was younger, I had a different perception of love but with time you understand its essence. As a teen, I believed eloping and getting married made for the best wedding. It didn’t happen in my life so I put it in my film,” she smiles.
