ILEANA D’CRUZ FOLLOWS THE RHYTHM OF HER HEART – BOTH IN LOVE AND WORK,
Barfi!, Main Tera Hero, Rustom, Mubarakan and now Baadshaho. Ileana D’Cruz has a habit of featuring in hits. But success isn’t the only feature of her career. She’s always managed to walk with the hosannas, whether it’s the quiet restraint of her role in Barfi! or her Punjabi swag in Mubarakan. This girl has a measure of her performances and her choice of films have always paid rich dividends at the box-office. Mubarakan’s b-o run has reiterated the fact that Ileana is slowly and steadily inching to the top of the marquee. Baadshaho with Ajay Devgn which hit the screens recently is another feather in her proverbial cap.
But this pretty girl from Goa, knows better than to aim just for success. She proudly calls herself a misfit in the glitzy lanes of b-town. Besides, she doesnt’t have any roaring ambition to compete with the top brass in Hindi cinema. She reveals, “I’m not in the race. I don’t want to get caught up in this race to the number one spot. I don’t know what it takes to be the number one actress. I don’t know how people decide to call someone number one.” She’s never been able to figure out if popular perception for the top actress is governed by box-office success or the amount of films an actor has in their kitty. She thinks a little differently though. “I think I’m happy just being good at what I’m doing. I’m happy with doing good films that have great content. With films that push me. Films that people like and films that actually do well at the boxoffice,” she smiles.
