MAYUKH MAJUMDAR INTERVIEWS RAJKUMMAR RAO, WHOSE MOVIE CHOICES ALWAYS KEEP US HOOKED
MAYUKH MAJUMDAR
MR NICHE GUY

Rajkummar Rao must be the nicest guy around. Talk to him for ten minutes and you realise that. Right now, he's in the midst of promotions for Hum Do Hamare Do. And he's interacting with journalists for his movie. He has a ready smile for everyone around. He acknowledges everyone who walks into the lounge, compliments them, asks after their wellbeing, instantly putting them at ease. He looks like the guy who may be aware of his stardom but would never ever think about throwing his weight around. He admits he's the guy who wants to do his job and go home to his pet dog Gaga and spend quality time with girlfriend Patralekha. The trappings of stardom are not for him. Yes, you realise all this in ten minutes. Because his niceness reflects in his eyes.

So, I'm sitting with him talking about Hum Do Hamare Do and he sounds pretty excited about it. The movie revolves around a couple's misadventures when they adopt a set of parents. It's a unique story and Rajkummar tells me all about it. Excerpts from our interview with the nice guy who has carved a niche for himself through sheer hard work.

Hum Do Hamare Do is a story that we've never ever heard about - a couple adopting a set of parents. You must have been thrilled when you read the script...

Well, this was definitely a unique idea. We always hear about people adopting kids but this was about adopting parents, which is very different. And it was a lot of fun, just reading the script and getting to work with such amazingly talented actors like Paresh Rawal, Ratna ma'am (Pathak), Kriti (Sanon) and Aparshakti (Khurana). I just didn't want to miss this opportunity and grabbed it with both hands. I feel elated, of course. As long as people keep watching great content on screen, it doesn't have to be just my films, whatever good content is out there - please support it and watch it because we can continue to make amazing films and series.
