Ranbir Kapoor: A Lonely Heart
Filmfare|November 02 2016

Ranbir Kapoor is back where he belongs. He tells Jitesh Pillai he went nowhere and movies are his lifeline.

Ranbir Kapoor: A Lonely Heart

Most actors are addicted to drama. Some of them put up a performance for you even when the camera isn’t on. Ranbir Kapoor is an exception. He’s quirky, he’s funny and it’s always a joy to meet up with him. He and I have had a brief sabbatical from one another. So catching up with him is always fun. Unfortunately, most of our conversations are unprintable. But I love processing the clues he gives me into the trade. He’s what you call an old soul. Beneath all that bluster, all he cares about is the movies.

I’m watching him perform on the set of Anurag Basu’s Jagga Jasoos. It’s a fun set. Constant yammering fills the air. Since the cameraman for the day is playing hooky, Basu has stepped in as cameraman too. No frills, no fuss some nice lovely close-ups. We will also see him at the multiplexes soon in Karan Johar’s much touted Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (ADHM). If there’s a storm brewing within Ranbir, he isn’t showing it. It will be a movie, which will be closely watched and could turn the tide for him again. Right now, the songs of the film are ruling the airwaves as much as his canoodling with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on screen.
