Her Vibe Is Cool. Her Attitude Candid. Raghuvendra Singh Comes Away Charmed By Athiya Shetty.

Raghuvendra Singh
Shetty Shetty Bang Bang
She’s not dating Arjun Kapoor. She’s only featuring with him in the upcoming comedy Mubarakan. She’s been a childhood friend to his sister Anshula. She’s very fond of him. But she’s not seeing him. Athiya Shetty is a lot more than what the headlines suggest. She’s been biding her time after her debut in Hero. She’s dead serious about carving out a killer career. The right opportunity is the key and she knows it. So keeping aside all the hearsay, gossip and conjecture, Athiya is focussed on films. She lives by her parents’ advice. Confident, energised and striking a balance between stress and comfort, Athiya Shetty is ready to give life at the movies her best. Her words are measured but honest. Her thoughts are hopeful yet real. In a quiet and assured way, young Athiya Shetty indulges in some frank talk.

Why did you take so long to sign your second film - Mubarakan?

I was offered a lot of films post Hero. But I was nervous. I didn’t know if I wanted to be part of them. It’s believed that your first film chooses you, while you chose your second film. But when I heard the script of Mubarakan… I was excited. I wanted to be part of that environment, the script, the team... I got to work with Anees (Bazmee) sir. He’s the king of his genre – comedy. And then who gets the opportunity to work with Anil Kapoor in their second film? I wanted to do comedy, song, dance… I’ve grown up watching those films. Mubarakan is a comedy with a heart. It celebrates togetherness through a happy, crazy Punjabi family. You’ll be able to relate to it like ‘Oh, I have a maasi like this’, or ‘I have a bua like this’!
