He lived fast and died young, but Paul Walker’s star still shines bright. Now, on the eve of his 45th birthday, the actor’s loved ones reflect on his life and career

Five Years On...We'll Never Forget Paul

Those intense baby blues, the smile that made women everywhere go weak at the knees, and a magnetic personality – Paul Walker was one of a kind, and it’s hard to believe it’s been five years since the world lost him.

Indeed, November 30 marks the anniversary of The Fast and the Furious star’s tragic death in 2013. He died aged 40, when the Porsche he was a passenger in lost control, crashed into two trees and a concrete lamppost, and burst into flames on the outskirts of LA.

On September 12, he would have turned 45 – and to celebrate, a new documentary, I Am Paul Walker, remembers the star and features interviews with his family, friends and colleagues. Sadly, Paul’s 19-yearold daughter Meadow – who was just 15 when the actor died – is still so grief-stricken she couldn’t bring herself to appear.

But she’ll no doubt be proud of her dad and overwhelmed at the number of lives he touched.

“I’ve gotten letters from people all over the world who said he made a difference in their lives,” adds Paul’s brave mum Cheryl Walker. “That is such a blessing. He’s never forgotten.”

Here, his nearest and dearest look back on a special life that was cut way too short...

Paul William Walker IV was loved by all who knew him – but he was especially close to his family. Born to Cheryl and Paul III on September 12, 1973 in Glendale, California, the actor was the eldest of five siblings who remember him as the leader of the pack; a hero who always had their backs…

Cody Walker, Paul’s brother: “Paul was Peter Pan or like a Lost Boy or something. He was a big kid and he never grew up. And that’s what was so fun about him.”
