Katie Price would be the first to admit she’s had her fair share of drama during her 20-year career. But away from the spotlight, there’s no denying how happy she is with her kids and the incredible bond she has with them – including her 19-year-old disabled son, Harvey.
Katie raised him on her own after his dad, former footballer Dwight Yorke, cut contact. And while it’s been difficult, she admits she wouldn’t change anything.
“To say Harvey is a one in a few million is an understatement,” the 43-year-old says. “To me, his imperfections make him perfect.”
Katie, who last week broke her silence on her recent drink-drive crash, apologising and taking “full responsibility”, has given an insight into their life together in her book Harvey And Me.
And she says she’s so proud of how far Harvey has come as he embarks on his own journey after a move to the National Star residential college in Cheltenham.
Here, Katie, who is also mum to Junior, 16, Princess, 14, Jett, eight, and Bunny, seven, opens up about Harvey’s relationship with his siblings and her hopes for his future…
Hi Katie, and congrats on the new book. You’ve been open about the struggles when it comes to raising Harvey. What do you find the hardest?
Unlike my other children, Harvey has complex needs, which means no two days are the same in Harvey’s world. There is no predictability apart from his set routine, which is key to his overall wellbeing. I never know what’s coming and what mood he will be in when he wakes up, but I wouldn’t change a thing about him. He’s perfect to me.
