As rumours circulate that the Duchess of Sussex is about to embark on a political career, an expert has told new that it’s a seriously ambitious move that could mean make or break for her relationship with Prince Harry.
After the death of 90-year-old Californian Democrat senator Dianne Feinstein at the end of September, Meghan’s name was being thrown into the ring by commentators as a potential replacement for her.
However, despite the fact that Meghan, 42, reportedly had a Zoom call with California governor Gavin Newsom to discuss the position, in the end it was filled by the former advisor to Vice President Kamala Harris, Laphonza Butler, 44.
While this may not have been Meghan’s moment to make a political move, it’s thought that the former actress and humanitarian activist, who has campaigned in the past for US gender equality and paid family leave, could be interested in pursuing future opportunities in this area.
Entertainment expert Mark Boardman has told new that if the duchess were to move into this world, the flip side of such a “positive career progression” would be that it would have a “significant impact” on her relationship with her family.
