'Of Course I get Botoz!'

The problem is feminism today is such a derogatory and diva-like word,’ says Robin Wright of the movement. ‘Feminism means equality, period.’ The actress made waves last year when she threatened the producers of her TV show House of Cards with public exposure after discovering co-star Kevin Spacey received more money per episode than she did.

‘I was like, “You better pay me or I’m going to go public,”’ she said at the time. ‘And they did.’ The 51-year-old later explained she’d seen statistics revealing her character was more popular than Kevin’s for a period of time. ‘So I capitalised on it.’

Robin says the inequality in her pay packet came after years of working part-time – a period during which she raised her two children, Dylan, 26, and Hopper Jack Penn, 23. ‘If you don’t build [your] salary bracket with notoriety and presence, you’re not in the game anymore,’ she reveals. ‘You don’t hold the value you would have held if you had done four movies a year, like Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett did during the time I was raising my kids. Now I’m kind of on a comeback.’

And so she is. Here, we find out what the actress has been up to all these years…

BITTERSWEET LOVE

‘I was pregnant and ostensibly married at 24,’ Robin says of her 20-year on-off relationship with actor Sean Penn, the father of her two kids. ‘I grew up very fast as a young girl, but I grew slowly into womanhood. We were learning as we were going,’ she says of becoming a mum.
