When it comes to décor, Interior Design Masters runner-up Siobhan Murphy is no magnolia-coloured wallflower. In fact, her own Castleford home, which she’s previously described as “Palm Springs on acid”, is a veritable kaleidoscope of pattern, colour and texture, as were many of her designs on the popular BBC Two show.
The Leeds-born 42-year-old became a fan favourite on her TV journey for her warm personality and fearless approach to interiors. So popular, in fact, that she’s been able to leave her job in the NHS after 18 years to pursue her first love of design – and she’s been announced as OK! online’s new interiors columnist.
Siobhan is also now a bona fide influencer with 90,000 followers on Instagram and the product deals have begun to flood in.
Here, the bewigged designer, who lives with her husband Nick, 47, and their ragdoll cat Benji, in their gorgeous Art Deco home, tells us about her design dreams, how expressing herself through art has boosted her self-confidence and why she’s excited for the future…
Congratulations on being runner-up on Interior Design Masters and the breakout star of the show. How did it all start?
