'Fatherhood Has Given Me A New Sense Of Purpose'

As the duke of cambridge seeks to save the planet, his green credentials should earn him brownie points with his eco-savvy children

It was all smiles from the young royals as The Duke of Cambridge welcomed Sir David Attenborough into the gardens of Kensington Palace for a private outdoor screening of the broadcaster’s upcoming film, David Attenborough: A Life On Our Planet.

Sir David was greeted by the whole family, including The Duchess of Cambridge, 38. Princess Charlotte, five, looked particularly pleased to meet the natural history icon and Prince George, seven, was lucky enough to receive a giant shark’s tooth from Sir David which he said he found on a holiday to Malta in the late 60s.

William says his children have had a big impact on his world views, giving him a “new sense of purpose” in life, which he reveals in his upcoming ITV documentary Prince William: A Planet For Us All. It focuses on his search for ways to “protect the natural world”, along with his growing ambition to play a greater global leadership role in environmental issues, and is due to air in October.
