The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be relieved to have finally put down roots in the “quiet privacy” of Montecito, Santa Barbara, just 90 minutes north of Los Angeles.
Reportedly named The Chateau of Riven Rock, their mansion is nestled between the coastline and the scenic Santa Ynez mountains. Boasting nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, a games room, home cinema, gym, tennis court and swimming pool, there’s also a guest house – should the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge ever make it over for a visit!
But while Meghan admits, “It’s good to be home,” it’s not just the stunning surroundings of the west coast enclave that she’s referring to. Welcoming the chance to continue her altruistic work free from royal constraints, she’s on target to carve out a political path to the top, according to popular culture expert Nick Ede.
“Meghan knows she’s a brand and that she and Harry are a power couple,” says Nick. “But rather than stay in partnership with Harry in their working life, I think she’ll go down a different path.
“The two of them are very different in their understanding of the world and even in the way they articulate their thoughts.”
Continuing, Nick tells OK! that a career in politics could be on the horizon for Meghan, 39. “People say that Meghan wants to run for office. I think she likes to emulate the likes of Michelle Obama and Oprah and she wants to have that authority.”
