If you needed further evidence that time flies, 2021 marks 20 years since Kym Marsh sprang to fame as one fifth of chart-topping group Hear’Say on ITV talent show Popstars. “It feels like a million years ago, but at the same time, when I say 20 years, it makes me feel quite old!” Kym laughs as we catch up over Zoom.
And it seems there could be big plans in place to mark the milestone, as Kym, 44, exclusively reveals that she’s been in regular contact with her former bandmates Danny Foster, Myleene Klass, Suzanne Shaw and Noel Sullivan.
“We all jump on the call and it’s like we’ve never been apart,” the former Coronation Street star, who is mum to David, 25, Emilie, 24, and Polly, nine, continues.
But as well as celebrating her pop career, OK! columnist Kym has got plenty more on her hands over the coming months. This week, she’s back on the box alongside TV hubby Gethin Jones as their BBC show Morning Live returns after smashing the ratings. Meanwhile, she’s flexing her documentary muscle, fronting the second series of her true crime series, Murder At My Door.
Here, the star, who’s in a relationship with Scott Ratcliff, opens up on adding strings to her bow, why she’s given up playing matchmaker for Gethin, and how a potential Hear’Say reunion could be on the horizon…
Hi Kym. We can’t believe it’s been 20 years since Popstars…
It’s a bit bonkers to think it was so long ago. It was the first show of its kind – there hasn’t been another one the same since. We were more like a documentary, in a way, before it got to public voting and all the rest of it.
Are you still in touch with your bandmates?
