Homegrown Tastes South Africa
Season 1 Wednesdays (from 23 March)
BBC Lifestyle (*174) 20:00
Food is much more than just what’s on our plates. The process starts with the farmers who grow and monitor their crops and livestock. It’s followed by harvesting, sorting and packaging – all the technical bits and bobs. Their produce is then sold across the world and locally to stores and restaurants, with the chefs and customers cooking dishes that are inspired by their cultures and interests.
This culinary journey is what inspired celebrity chef and TV personality Lorna Maseko’s brand-new cooking expedition series Homegrown Tastes South Africa. In each themed episode, Lorna is joined by a celebrity guest and together they travel across the country and explore the local culinary industry. “Other than meeting farmers, chefs and personalities behind our best street food and highend eateries, I discover hidden gems that make South African cuisine standout,” explains the host.
