Usually, feisty attorney and former lecturer Annalise Keating (Viola Davis, Veronica in action thriller film Widows, 2019) buries herself in her work to deflect from confronting personal issues on drama series How To Get Away With Murder (2014-2020). However, with her career hanging by a thread following her arrest in season 3 finale for setting her house alight, which resulted in the death of her student Wes (Alfred Enoch, Aeneas in 2018 on drama show Trust Me, 20172019), Annalise travels to visit her family in Memphis when season 4 begins. “I’d like Annalise to make better decisions this time around,” says Viola about the new season. But it doesn’t seem likely…
Considering that Annalise referred to Wes as her son and she still blames herself for his death, she’s determined to protect her loved ones from herself as she believes that she’s toxic. “I compare Wes’s death to a domino effect. It’s that last block that you place on a finished piece that causes everything to tumble down. That’s what you’re going to see from Annalise this season,” adds 55-year-old Viola.
