It was the wedding of all weddings when Bonita (Hildegardt Whites) and DeWet (Dirk Stoltz) finally tied the knot recently. Who's to say you can't be married for a year and then finally have a big do later down the line? It's the COVID way! And they certainly showed us how to celebrate. But as usual, DeWet had an agenda, and it definitely wasn't only to give Bonita the woman he now truly-sort-of loves - the fairytale wedding of her dreams. De Wet has given himself a little going away present too.
While the happy couple are jetting off to their honeymoon, the Welmans the family DeWet holds responsible for the death of his son Shawn (Deànré Reiners) - will be fighting for their lives. Somebody get the name of that caterer, because the wedding feast has left them with something worse than indigestion.
CHOKE ON IT!
While the wedding guests enjoyed the party after the ceremony and Bonita and DeWet left the reception to cheers and tears, the Welmans and Fikani (Nicholas Nkuna) - their son-in-law - started falling ill one by one. They desperately wanted to get out of the venue and get help, but DeWet's guests were all locked in. Eventually Uys (Daniel Coetzee) and some of the other men used tables to break the door and the ambulances arrived them.
