Indians will not get the feel of the newly launched Google Pixel smartphones, Google Pixel 4 and Google Pixel 4 XL due to some spectrum complexities depriving the world second largest consumer base of Google’s latest innovations. Does it mean good business for Apple iPhone 11 in India?
What’s the Confusion?
Google has announced the new twins into its Pixel family to make the count to 4 as in Google Pixel 4 and a higher variant called the Google Pixel 4 XL starting at USSD799 but, to our disappointment, these two new smartphones will not launch in India. This is primarily due to the spectrum issue on which Google Pixel 4 works which is the 60GHz frequency. This range of spectrum has not yet been opened to the masses and that is why Google has skipped Pixel 4 for India. This has come at a time when Apple has tried its bit to understand the India’s price-sensitive market and has thus introduced iPhone 11 in 64GB version at Rs 64,900 which I believe is a very smart and strategic move because anyone who can buy a premium Samsung S series smartphone would definitely afford Apple iPhone 11 at least. The Google Pixel 4 episode will definitely impact the premium segment smartphone market in India unless the spectrum issue is resolved thick and fast which I believe is not going to happen anytime soon and by the time it will, the product would be outdated with something new. There’s another message which is going around that Google would bring something on the lines of Google Pixel 3a to India to cover the mess and confusion.
Google has incorporated a radar sensor technology called Soli which is now known as Motion Sense that supports air gestures. you just need to wave at the phone to prompt any action such as text writing and calling.
