Exposure Media Production
Peter Carney is from the U.K. Geraldine Carney grew up in the Philippines. Their story started in China.
Peter and Geraldine make up the creative force behind Exposure Media Production, a Philippines based company that creates various photo and video projects—from documentaries to online video content and behind-the-scenes videos— and for different clients—from NGOs to brands. Married for three and a half years now, they first met in Beijing, where the two started working together before tying the knot. They’ve developed an ideal arrangement that suits them: Peter is the “creative ideas guy,” while Geraldine is the go-to person for logistics, talking to people, dealing with permits—“the Pinoy side of things.” They prove that great partners in life make great partners in business and actually create amazing things together.
Please tell us about Exposure Media Production and how you started it.
Peter: We started the company after moving from Beijing, China, to Manila in early 2014. I have wanted to start a video and photo company for a few years and after deciding that the pollution of Beijing was getting too much, we moved to the Philippines and started the company.
How did you get into photography and videography?
P: I was given a camera when I was around 8 years old and fell in love with photography. I was always passionate about it, but coming from a scientific family, I decided to not rock the boat and studied Pharmacology. I wasn’t really happy working for pharmaceutical companies and so [I] saved up and went traveling for seven months across Southeast Asia and really fell in love with photography again.
