The days when Kia was considered a budget brand are long gone. If you want to see the full extent of the Korean company’s ambitions then look no further than the Stinger GT S. This high-performance sports saloon is aimed squarely at the likes of the BMW Gran Coupé 440i and the Mercedes-AMG C43. At £41,240 it undercuts the Germans by a useful margin, but can it really beat them at their own game?
UNDER THE BONNET
The Stinger certainly doesn’t lack firepower. You can buy four-cylinder petrol and diesel versions, but this range-topping GT S model has a 3.3-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 producing 361bhp. That’s enough to cover 0-to-62mph in 4.7 seconds on its way to a top speed of 168mph. All models come with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, rear-wheel drive and a limited-slip differential.
